Day 4 (July 25th)
The only thing on the schedule for today is
to tour the Biltmore estate. Railfans will have to wait
until tomorrow for railroad pictures.
This is the Biltmore main house. Photography is not allowed
inside the house so all of the following pictures were taken
outside. Some of them as we sneaked the shots while we walked
out on a balcony during the self guided tour. We were very
fortunate to have a good friend who lives in Asheville act
as our tour guide. (Photo - Mike Colyar.)

This shows the house and the start of the gardens on the
left. The gardens flow down the hill where the greenhouses
are. (Photo - Mike Colyar.)

There is much artwork inside Biltmore. Much of it is rare
and very valuable. One can find interesting figures from
the past on the outside as well. Gargoyles protect the house
from many different vantage points. (Photo - Nancy Colyar.)

If gargoyles are enough to protect you, how about your
own set of knights? The knights were a theme that showed
up several places inside the house as well. (Photo - Nancy

"V" for vanity? The Vanderbilt "V"
can be found in different locations around the house as
well. (Photo - Nancy Colyar.)

Finally, a sample of some of the wonderful plant life around
the estate. The grounds are very beautiful. (Photo - Nancy
