Day 5
Today we drove from Asheville, NC to Lexington,
NC by way of Old Fort and Taylorsville.
This is the train depot in Old Fort, NC. As a child Nancy
rode the train from Asheville to this depot. It wasn't this
color back them. Yuck.

This is a CSX switching job at Clinchfield, NC. There was
a bridge back to the left of this shot that still has the
Clinchfield RR lettering on it.

Back in Statesville again we found the Alexander RR #7
switching cars.

Upon arriving in Lexington we visited the Richard Childress
winery. Very nice place and were were pleasantly surprised
at the very good quality of the wine. Though we didn't take
the tour, we did do the wine tasting and the people were
very nice and helpful. It's worth the stop.

Part of the Childress vinyards.

One of Lexington NC's big things is pork barbecue. You
may have heard of the Chicago cows. Well, Lexington has
the pigs. I think there were about 30 of them decorated
all over downtown. This is Piggy-Atrician.
