Day 7
As cloudy and rainy as it was yesterday, the sky was clear blue today.
Essex had a 100 year low last night of 38 degrees. Wouldn't you know it? Brr. Today we
left the Isaak Walton and will end up the night in Kalispell, MT. We have very much
enjoyed our stay and will be sorry to leave.
This is an exterior shot of our windows and the flowers outside where the hummingbirds congregated.
This was a shot of just a few of the many wild berries around. These are wild raspberries.
As we tried to head west, we ran into an east bound train and doubled back
to Java Creek to get this great shot.
Finally heading west, we found another train at Stanton Creek.
I'm not sure what this location is called. But a west bound train headed
into a tunnel as rafters float down the river.
We decided to drive over to Whitefish, MT. Whitefish was celebrating their
centennial with Huckleberry Days. Of course, we found the railroads there too. The first image
is a monument to the Great Northern Railway. The second image is a freight rolling by the
Whitefish depot.
After wondering through the crafts, visiting the tasting room at the Great
Northern Brewery, and watching these guys trying to maim themselves, we decided to call
it a day and head on to Kalispell.
